Oh how the good times rolled.....over me! I was so excited about Mardi Gras as it is one of my favorite times of year and glad to be home to experience it in full again. To top it all off Katherine asked me to stay with her for the weekend and she lives in walking distance of downtown. I was pumped, ready to have some fun! I guess I had a little too much. The first night of the big weekend I went to Crewe of Columbus parade and ball and lost my voice somewhere along the way. I didn't feel bad at all I just had a hoarse, raspy voice that made it quite difficult to communicate. Nonetheless, the party continued. We drank too much, stayed up late, ate lots of junk food, but had an absolute blast. This pattern continued for the next three days. I enjoyed connecting with old friends, getting crazy with my cousins on Joe Cain Day, and obtaining quite a few bruises from the IM/MOT epic parade. I sat out of the festivities on Fat Tuesday to relax. I made it back to work and my voice was slowly returning so I thought everything was fine. On Friday I began to feel the congestion and headache coming on and I new that my weekend of "letting the good times roll" had caught up with me. Would I change it? Probably not. I will definitely learn from it though. All being said, I believe Lent comes at the perfect time for some physical, spiritual, and emotional renewal.
